Andy's birthday fell on a pretty cool date this year - 10/10/10. We had a fun time celebrating with him! As usual, Andy requested breakfast for his birthday dinner... breakfast burritos this year. They were delicious. After we were done eating, we prepared to open presents.
Andy's sister sent him a popcorn tin that the whole family was pretty excited about... especially Charlie.
He also received a little computer for his bike from his dad. He was very excited about that too! He got some birthday money as well that he is excitedly spending on new gadgets for his bike.
I let Charlie pick out a card for Andy, and he chose one that had a #1 Dad sticker. I thought it was pretty good that he found it, since he had given me a card that had a #1 Mom sticker nine months earlier. Hopefully they keep having these cards because he thinks they are the best thing ever. And I think both Andy and I enjoy being perfect parents in his eyes... we know that won't last forever!
The big box was from us. Andy is really good at figuring out what is in a present. It is really a gift he has, but also quite frustrating for me... he can figure out what I've gotten him just by looking at the wrapping paper. He can usually even guess what book or video game or whatever... I don't know how he does it. This year, I decided to wrap all of his presents, put them in a big box and then wrap the big box. That way he wouldn't know what he had received until he got the big box open!
Of course, once he looked inside and saw everything, he started guessing. He didn't get the presents from the boys right though. Ephram gave Andy a flying disk. When I took the boys shopping for Andy he gravitated to this. Ephram thought it was hilarious. And when Andy thanked him for it he just wanted to hold it and laugh at it.
Charlie knew exactly what he wanted to get Andy. A flashlight. Andy has a lot of flashlights, but he does love them. When we got to the store Charlie found the perfect flashlight/lantern for his dad.
Among the things I gave Andy was a new hydration backpack for when he rides his bike. He liked it... and so did Charlie.
After presents were done, we pulled out the cake and sang a round of Happy Birthday to Andy.
It was a great day. We had a lot of fun... getting older may be hard, but nothing is better than celebrating a birthday!
