Exersaucer Enjoyment

With Ephram's neck muscles clearly strengthening, and a newfound love of "standing" in our laps, we figured it was time to get a stationary activity center for the little guy.  I started searching and was a little overwhelmed by all the options.  It looked like the Exersaucer and the Jumperoo were the most well rated and popular items, so I posted a question on Facebook to ask my friends for advice.  Many said that I should have one of each... which is the plan soon... but everyone recommended the Exersaucer.  That made my decision a lot more easy!  I found a great deal for an Exersaucer on Amazon - it was less than half price - and two days later the package arrived.  Andy and I were equally excited.  You would have thought that it was a toy for us.  Even Charlie was really excited.  Ephram was oblivious.  That is, oblivious until it was assembled and we dropped him in...  Then he was in love.

The first time we put him in the Exersaucer, on Mother's Day, he lasted for 25 minutes.  (With us right there, of course.)  He mostly looked at everything and tried to grab a toy and shove it in his mouth.  Overall, he loved being able to hold himself upright.  He was visibly giddy.

Later that night we put him back in, and he started kicking before we even let go of him.  He had already figured out how to bounce.  An accident made the little barrel spin around and we watched him concentrate on spinning it over and over again for at least five minutes.  He also discovered the ability to grab two toys at a time that night.

The next day, back in the exersaucer again, it was like old hat.  He started turning around to look at the book, the barrel, the mirror, the barrel....

We now affectionately refer to it as his "console".  He loves this toy, and its one of my new favorite places to take pictures of him... because he's always so wonderfully happy when he's in it!

Gavin loved his exersaucer so much we bought another one off of Craigslist so we could have one for both levels of our house. :)

That looks a lot like the one we have -- just a different theme. Ours has made it through 4 kids. (although the mirror only made it through the first two). As he starts moving around more you will like it even more, because you can put him in it and he won't be able to get into anything for a little bit! He sure looks a lot older now, is he starting to crawl yet? He will probably save that for vacation so he can really give you a run for your money. :-)
