The day Ephram turned four months old he also had his first real owie. He was doing some tummy time on a blanket on the floor, and I had left some toys within his reach. Most of his toys are soft, so it wouldn't matter, and he had also never grabbed something while he was on his tummy before. This day he decided to grab something, and what did he chose? A big, hard rattle. He brought it under his face and tried to shove it in his mouth. The effort was too much for him and his face fell down... right onto the rattle. I was standing just a few footsteps away when this happened, but I didn't get there fast enough to pull it out of the way. Ephram screamed, and screamed and screamed. The only thing that calmed him down was nursing, which also quickly put him to sleep. Being a nervous first-timer, I called the nurses line for their opinion on whether or not he was alright. He was fine, but had some funny lines on his forehead for a few days!
