Macie at Two Months

My Macie is two months old!  It is surreal when I think about the fact that she should have been one week old as we celebrated her two month milestone.  I cannot imagine what life would have been given seven weeks more before her arrival.  We have survived much, Macie and I, during the past two months.  I feel that one kernel of happiness that I can hold onto is that we had seven extra weeks to know each other.  Most parents of a baby her size haven't had that pleasure.

This was a big month as she reached full term status, we passed my scheduled c-section date (May 10th) and her actual due date (May 16th).  She continued to meet the growth targets set for her like clockwork and we all started to relax into life as though she was a normal newborn baby.  As an example of this, Macie only had to go to the doctor two times during the entire month, once for a weight check and then for her two-month well child visit.  (Dzana had two postpartum visits in the same month, so we were still at the doctor's plenty.)

Feeding:
Macie is eating expressed milk fortified with Neosure formula.  She takes 70ml bottles every 3 hours during the day, for six daily bottles.

Halfway through the month we replaced her first bottle of the morning with a full nursing session.  With this she feeds seven times during a 24-hour period.

I attempted to replace every other bottle feeding with a nursing session during the month, but Macie was not ready for this step yet.

Macie still takes Zantac and continued at a dose of .2 ml twice a day to treat her severe reflux.

Sleeping:
Macie is a wonderful sleeper.  During the month she continued to sleep for most of the day, but settled into two daily alert periods.  One in the morning and one in the afternoon, each lasting about 3 hours.

At night Macie sleeps in a co-sleeper by our bed.  She sleeps in a double swaddle and her mattress is inclined to help with the reflux.  We were given permission to let Macie sleep through the night if she could, and she does this wonderfully.  We usually go about six hours from the last nighttime feeding to the first morning feeding.
