So what would you do,
If you walked into the nursery to get a wipe,
And found them all gone,
And the last refill bag sealed tightly shut,
And too hard to open with your hands?
Here's what Remy did.
He left the bag in the middle of the nursery.
He ran downstairs with purpose.
He opened the art cabinet and took out the bin for scissors and adhesives.
He quickly tossed the contents around until he found his scissors,
And then ran off again.
I saw all of this.
But I was doing the dishes.
So I didn't truly register it.
Until about five minutes later,
Which is when I noticed the absolute quiet of our house.
And I ran up the stairs.
This is what I found.
He was using the scissors to cut the top of the bag off. It looked like he had first started with a very tiny strip, going bigger and bigger as he still couldn't open the bag. There was plastic everywhere.
But the truth is that I was just impressed.
I have one son that pretty much works his darndest to do the opposite of everything he has been taught.
He asks for us to do everything,
And pretends like he can't do anything.
And here, a three year old that found a problem,
Didn't ask for help,
And came up with a good solution.
So, plastic on the floor and all, I was happy.
So I told him to go ahead and finish.
He was so proud of himself.
But I think I was even more proud than him.
