Second Christmas

I really like the Lord of the Rings movies.  Among the reasons I enjoy them is the little, funny quips the hobbits continually offer.  One of my favorites?  An inconsequential passage where they mention "second breakfast".  What could be better than having a fully loaded pancake breakfast?  Having it twice... of course.

So what could be better than having an awesome Christmas with lots of extended family?  Coming home to another pile of presents just waiting to be opened.  When we arrived back in Washington, we had a stack of presents from our family living abroad and some things that Charlie had made for us at preschool.  And this is how we came to have Second Christmas this year.

Ephram most definitely became skilled at opening presents in California.  He sat down in front of his and new exactly what to do!  Of all of the goodies in his box, he most loved this little musical dino.  It plays his favorite song - Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

Charlie went next and opened a present sent for the whole family... a neat tin full of German goodies.  We all had fun figuring out how the tin spins around once it is empty.

Then Charlie helped open a present intended for him and Andy.  He was so excited when he saw what it was - a trebuchet.  Grandpa Kovar received a similar one when we were in California, and Charlie had "helped" to assemble it.
Finally there was a little snowman tin for the boys.  Charlie and Ephram both wanted to open it, so we let them work together.  Inside were two little Christmas ornaments.  Charlie chose Santa, his hero, leaving Ephram very happy with the other one!  The boys hung the ornaments on the tree and we headed into the kitchen to enjoy Second Christmas treats... from Germany!

I think Second Christmas might just have to become a new Kovar tradition.  It is too much fun!
