Ephram's First Flight

A few short days after the holiday, we headed out to California.  It was quite the experience for me to go through the airport with a baby!  After years of frequent flying by myself for work, I first had to adjust to flying with kids... and now with a baby.  I planned everything out and have probably never arrived at the airport so soon before a flight.  Both kids seemed excited as we made it through security, and Ephram had a big smile on his face.  He seemed to be dazzled by all of the noise and the activity going on around him.

We went to the main terminal in Seatac and decided to eat some dinner.  Charlie and I had Wendy's... I think Andy had sushi.  Charlie thought it was a real treat to eat in the airport!  Ephram kicked his feet up in the stroller and took it all in.

We made it to our gate about fifteen minutes before boarding started, which was perfect!  Just enough time for me to get our claim tickets for the stroller and car seat and get ready to board the plane.  Once we were on Charlie settled in with his toys Woody and Alien from Toy Story, and Andy and I took turns entertaining Ephram.  Ephram was especially fascinated by the reading light.

He did so good during the whole flight, and wasn't fussy at all.  I was so relieved that there was no major meltdown.  Charlie was hyper and excited for most of the flight.  Then, about an hour and a half after take off, he finally got tired.  He took off his hat and used it as a pillow, curled up, and was asleep in five minutes.
He wouldn't even wake up during landing.  Both boys did a great job and we were all excited to be in California.

Once in the Ontario airport, Andy left to go get our rental car.  (It requires a shuttle and I did not feel like doing that with our luggage AND a stroller/baby combination.)  I stayed at baggage claim to get our bags.  They came quickly and then we sat down and waited for Andy to return.  Charlie was wide awake again and eager to get to Grandma and Grandpa Boyce's house.

This was a great first flight experience for our family... it really couldn't have gone any better!  (Well, if we'd been upgraded to first class, I suppose that would have been better...)

Flying with kids is always an adventure isn't it? You're lucky you had your husband to help you. I've done it many times by myself. Not so much fun! :)

So - was the flight home just as smooth? If he did well, then that must mean that you need to come down here and see us. :-) He sure was fun to play with.

Yeah - the flight home was great too. We'd love to come see you... or come move there!
