The day after the last day of class, Charlie's teacher organized a final picnic at a local park.
Most of the kids in Charlie's class have siblings Ephram's age, and both boys were very excited to go play. It was a little difficult to get pictures of Charlie playing for two reasons - first, he was moving super fast. Second, Ephram was too and I was a little afraid he was going to decide to jump off the structure.
After some play time, Charlie sat down to eat the Happy Meal we'd brought. He was super excited to eat outside with his classmates.
Then the kids enjoyed some more playtime. Charlie and his classmates ended up playing a crazy little game of tag on the grass. We got them to all gather together for one final picture.
Charlie, Ava, Shay, Caden, Kyler
Too soon it was time for the picnic to end. We got one final picture of Charlie with his teacher, Mrs. Hereth. Hoping for a great Kindergarten experience to match this wonderful year of preschool!
Right before Mother's Day...
A little too close to Mother's Day to be honest (at least it was not after the holiday)...
The boys and I took a trip to Hallmark to pick out cards to mail to their grandma and great grandmas.
They picked out some great cards.
And then they found one more thing.
It was so cute I couldn't resist.
The boys liked it because it was similar to the things they play with at Grandma's.
You push the little puppy's paw and he says cute things.
Like "I woof you!"
Ephram held on to puppy in the car on the way home while Charlie read each of the cards to us.
This little puppy became Ephram's new best pal immediately.
He went everywhere with him.
Gave him hugs and kisses.
Panted, barked and laughed with the dog.
For two whole weeks.
Before moving onto the next new thing!
I had a fantastic Mother's Day this year.
Each Mother's Day just keeps getting better.
My boys treated me to donuts for breakfast,
Beautiful flowers,
And filled my garden window with plants.
We enjoyed yummy steak for an early dinner.
(The kids enjoyed some yummy chicken, neither are steak lovers)
And had a fun outing to the park.
Mostly I just had a great day relaxing and playing with my kids.
I am so lucky to have two handsome, intelligent and affectionate boys.
We had a wonderful breakfast.
I got Ephram out of his seat and headed to the sink to rinse out the bowls.
The box of cereal was still on the table.
Apparently he was still hungry.
He solved his problem.
And was quite proud of himself too.
I am glad that he is cute.
And yes, I am glad that he is learning how to solve problems.
Independence is a good thing, even if it is also so hard for me to know he won't always need me.
One more thing I'm grateful for... vacuum cleaners.
Now after breakfast the boxes of food get put away before anything else.
I started teaching piano lessons this fall. Charlie was my second student. He has done really well. He is definitely musical! Here is a recording of him playing (and singing) a song that he learned in April.
